Claudius Maximus visits Landscove C of E Primary School 7th June 2007

Claudius Maximus gives the Year 3 & 4 pupils at Lanscove C of E Primary School two choices:-
Accept his Roman discipline or leave the hall

Everyone chooses to stay

Learning Latin commands

Gladius: the sword

Weapons used to slow down the enemy by penetrating the foot

The Testudo (Tortoise) military tactic

The 2nd Conturburnium whilst outnumbered 3:1 by the Celts bravely stand their ground

The marauding Celts charge the Romans

The Romans demonstrate strict adherence to military discipline and attack with vigour and skill

The Celts fail in their attempt to overthrow the Romans

Every last man is killed and the Romans are once more victorious

Claudius Maximus praises the bravery of his soldiers and celebrates their victory

Claudius Maximus worked with Year 5 & 6 pupils at Ruishton Primary School. The weather was fine and enabled a superb outdoor battle between the Celts and the Romans
